TEAM DND: CAREER RESEARCH
The career research work of LINC@Arellano students, batch 2016
The purpose of this research paper is to discover facts and opinions about being a Certified Public Accountant. It will cover general information on the job, such as what a CPA does on a day to day basis and how much one earns. This paper will also touch on trends and current events that affect CPAs.
I gathered data from various online sources, such as JobStreet.com and Glassdoor. I also looked at government publications, especially when looking for statistical data. I also interviewed several CPAs, to get firsthand information on the profession.
The data was gathered in the year 2015. However, some of the information covers the years 2005 to 2015. This paper mostly covers being a CPA in the Philippines, but it also has data on being an accountant abroad.
Specific accounting jobs (e.g. Tax Accountant, Auditor) won’t be discussed in length. This paper provides details and data on being an Accountant after taking up the CPA Board Exam, but it won’t focus on the specific specializations one can choose afterwards.
High school students who want to be a CPA will benefit from this paper. Parents who want their children to take up accountancy will also benefit from this paper. This will help them discover meaningful, relevant, and updated information on what it’s really like to be a CPA in the Philippines. This will better prepare them for what the future will hold. This will also help them make a more informed decision, before investing time and money into a course that will lead to this profession.
